Sacramental Celebrations

Congratulations to the boys and girls from our school who recently received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. The children worked extremely hard to prepare for their special occasion and it was lovely to see the respect and reverence they showed during the ceremony. Our thanks are extended to Mrs Magee, Mrs Smith, Miss Marner and Mrs Kilmartin for all they did to make this occasion so meaningful to the children. We hope that this will be the first of many times that the children will experience this very important sacrament.

We look forward to our P7 class celebration of the Service of Light which takes place on Thursday, 16th April at 7.00pm in St Patrick’s Church

Preparations are now well underway for Confirmation which takes place on Friday, 8th May in St Patrick’s Church at 6.00pm. School will close at 1.00pm to facilitate preparations for the ceremony.

St Patrick's Day Celebrations

St Patrick's Day was celebrated in style today with a full day of singing, dancing, poetry and artwork.  It began with the P6 class performing their assembly on the theme of St Patrick and perserverence.  Congratulations Primary 6 on your presentation, it was of the highest standard.  The day then continues with each class providing a little performance for the rest of the school.

After break we were joined by some past pupils of our school who provided a spectular display of Irish dancing.  Everyone was so impressed!

The morning finished off with a giant Waves of Torey with teachers and children dancing together to the wonderful music.

In the afternoon, the children were treated to more music, this time from a group made up of teachers and pupils.  Everyone enjoyed the nice, relaxed atmosphere and joined in with the songs.  Thank you to Miss Delaney for her hard work in preparing ofr the day and for Mr Caughey's support on the guitar. Congratulations to Miss Grant, Mr Coulter and Miss McPhillips who have discovered that they are talented drummers, they displayed great drumming skills throughout.

Ice cream and green jelly was on the menu for the end of the day and there were clean plates left by everyone.

SIncere thanks to the staff for their work in preparing the children for today and to Miss McEvoy for organising what has turned out to be a very successful celebration of our Irish culture.
