School Development

It is important that parents are kept informed of our plans for development in the school and we value their involvement in Development Planning. In the 2015/16 school year our main areas of focus are:

  • Continued  Development of non-fiction comprehension
  • Development  of Shape and Space in Using Mathematics
  • Developing  of planning in ICT for Film and Animation, Managing Data and Music and      Sound.
  • Review  of the Positive Behaviour Policy

As part of the Extended Schools programme we are continuing with the ICAN Club, Story Sacks Programme and Reading Partnership programme.

Extended Schools has also enabled us to introduce the Lexia Club and extend our Stay and Play programme for parents of Foundation Stage pupils.

Parents’ views and opinions on the development of our school are greatly valued. Should further information be required on the areas outlined above or should a parent wish to make a suggestion on future areas of development please contact Mr Coulter.

Crossing Patrol

We delighted to see our new Crossing Patrol Man has settled in well and is ensuring that the children cross the main road safely. We are also in the process of putting a second person in place and hope to have this arranged in the near future.

Schools Council

Good luck to our council members, Eva Hanna, Aleesha Gribben, Amy Noble, Sophie Hogg, Caoimhe McKibben, Leo Madine, Niall Flanagan, Grace Crawford, Brian Lowery, Peter Hawkins and Owen Sharvin

We wish to thank Miss Ooleen Morgan and Ms Leanne Doyle for helping on Election Day.  They did a great job of checking each voter’s ID and counting the votes.

Thanks also to Miss McEvoy who is leading the development of the Schools Council and to all of the teachers for their work in providing Democracy Day etc.

New School Council

Welcome Back

We welcome all of our pupils back after the Summer break, especially the boys and girls in Primary 1 who have joined St Patrick’s. We wish you all every success in this new school year.

We also welcome our new P1 teacher, Miss McCrickard and wish her every success over the coming year.

Attendance and Punctuality

Most parents recognise the benefits of regular and punctual school attendance but there are those who do not. This year attendance will be monitored on a monthly basis and parents of children falling below the required levels will be contacted. Parents of children with irregular and poor attendance will be held accountable to the school and to the Education Authority – SE Region Education Welfare Service. Please help us to help your child by making sure your child is in school daily.
