IFA Primary Schools Tournament

Print PDF

Well done to our school soccer team which came joint first in the IFA Primary  Schools Tournament in Assumption Grammar School on Friday.

After winning a penalty shootout in the semi-final against Spa PS they met Millennium Integrated  PS in the final. The boys took an early lead with a super goal from Liam Burns but as the clock ticked towards the final whistle the Millennium struck back.
After this the lads had their backs to the wall but defended superbly well to hold on to a draw.  This moved the game into sudden death but after chances at both ends, neither teams could find the net.  Penalties!

Nerves filled the atmosphere as the game was still drawn after all of the penalties had been taken. Now it was sudden death.  Still nothing could separate the teams and as everything was level after all of the players had taken a penalty the referee decided the game was a draw. Our lads tried so hard throughout the day but a special mention must go to Charlie Brown, our goalkeeper, who pulled of some fantastic saves in the penalty shoot out.
