World Book Day

Print PDF

There was a great buzz around our school as the children took part in the recent World Book Day activities.  P7 boys and girls took time out to read to the Nursery children, every class took some reading time in the Reading Den, book doctors were on hand to recommend their favourite reads and the KS2 children finished the day with a table quiz.

The children also enjoyed students from Assumption Grammar School who visited and spent time reading to the various classes.

It was great to see the children so interested in reading and showing their knoweldge of different authors.

One of the biggest highlights fo the week was our Extreme Reading competition where children were challenged to send in a photo of themselves reading in an unusual place.  Amongst the entries were children upsidedown, inside weird and wonderful things and on top of different machines and unusual objects.  Our winner was the child who was inside the fridge with fridge magnets saying 'Reading Is Cool'.

Well done to all of our Extreme Read competition winners and to our table quiz winners.

A special word of thanks must go to the teachers for their hard work in promoting the day.  In particular, a big thank you to Miss McPhillips for her work in organising the various events and activities.
