Trocaire 2019 – Living in Fea r

We have heard the story of Maria, Maya and Patricia, children living in different parts of the world who have been forced to leave their homes. This year we are encouraging the children to work hard to raise much needed funds for Trocaire so that we can help children like this who have been moved from their home and are living in fear.   Find our more about Trocaire’s Lenten campaign on https://www.trocaire.org/getinvolved/lent/lent-box-2019

We thank our parents, grandparents and our wider school community for supporting the children in their fundraising efforts and ask that you always encourage them to think of others who are less fortunate than us. Sincere thanks to everyone who are making our Lenten charity work such a huge success.

Environmental Youthspeak

A massive well done to Patrick Pillitteri who represented our school in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Environmental Youthspeak. He spoke with great confidence and delivered his speech, ‘A Day in the Life of an Eco-Warrior’ with great passion. H

Attendance

Regular and punctual attendance is a crucial factor in every child’s learning and in St Patrick’s most parents recognise this, making sure that their child’s attendance is as high as possible. However, for some children, attendance is an issue and so pupil attendance is being more carefully monitored this year.

Whilst we appreciate a telephone call to inform us if a child is going to be absent this should be supported by a written note sent into school on the pupils return. Any absence without a written note is now being followed up by the admin staff of the school.

Environmental Youthspeak

Congratulations to Owen Madine and Eva Hanna who represented our school today so well in the Down District Council Environmental Youthspeak competition.  Whilst they did not win they certainly performed at a very high standard with speeches full of facts and important imformation on the importance of looking after the environment. We are very proud of their achievements.  Well done Owen and Eva!!!

365 Draw Winners

Congratulations to Mrs Elizabeth McGreevy on winning the first prize of £100 in the PSG 365 draw.  Congratulations also to Mrs Hanna on winning the second prize of £50.

Thanks to the PSG for all of their support throughout the year and to the P7 boys and girls for making the draw.

PSG Presentation

Sincere thanks are extended to our Parent Support Group who recently presented a cheque for £3,500.  This money will help purchase much needed resources and equipment and pay for the subsidised trip to the Opera House at Christmas.  Thank you to all of those parents and members of the community who so generously support the PSG events.

Trocaire 2016 – Climate Change, Climate Justice!

It is great to see the children working so hard to raise much needed funds for Trocaire over Lent.   We thank our parents for supporting the children in their fundraising efforts and ask that you always encourage them to think of others who are less fortunate than us. Sincere thanks to everyone who is making our Lenten charity work such a huge success.

Sacramental Celebrations

Congratulations to the P7 class who had their Service of Light on 30th March as part of their preparations for Confirmation. They provided beautiful singing, excellent readings and, most importantly, a deep understanding of what the Service of Light is all about.

Preparations are now well underway for Confirmation which takes place on Wednesday, 26th April in St Patrick’s Church at 6.00pm.

School will close at 1.00pm to facilitate preparations for the ceremony.
