Text messaging Service now available

St Patrick's Primary School and Magheradroll Nursery Unit are pleased to announce that we are now able to use text messaging to communicate school news, updates, reminders, events and other important information! Text messaging is a discreet, convenient, secure and reliable method of communication, which will save the school time and money by reducing the burden on our busy administration team.

We understand the importance of working in partnership with the families of our children to ensure that each child receives the best education that the school can offer. Text messaging will help us to keep you informed at all times and very quickly so that together we can offer the best support for your child.

When you receive a text message from the school please be assured that this service is FREE to you as the recipient of the message.

For the service to be effective it is important that we have a current mobile phone number and/or email address.  We ask that you complete the reply slip below and keep us informed immediately if there is a change to your mobile phone number.

This is a six week free trial and if it proves successful we will consider continuing with it.

We hope that this initiative will further improve communication between home and school.

Trip to Meet Ian Rush

Six lucky children had the pleasure of going to 10 Square, Belfast to meet Ian Rush, the Liverpool FC legend.  On entering the function room they were presented with Liverpool jerseys signed by Ian Rush and then sat down to a lovely lunch.  After lunch there was great anticipation as the childrne looked forward to meeting Ian.  After they met him there were lots of photo opportunities and chances to get autographs.

The children had a wonderful day.

Thanks are extended to Mr McBride, Assumption Grammar School, for inviting our school along and to Brian Gallagher, 10 Square for the wonderful hospitality that was shown to all of the children.

Born In a Barn

The P1-P4 children are currently working hard to prepare for their performance of ‘Born in a Barn’, this year’s nativity play.  There will be two showings, the evening show taking place on Monday, 13th December 2010 at 7.00pm and the matinee on Tuesday 14th December 2010 at 1.15pm.

To ensure that all parents get the opportunity to see their child perform they will have the option of initially purchasing two tickets between Thursday, 2nd December and Wednesday, 7th December. After this date all tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis and parents can buy as many as they wish.  Tickets are priced at £3.00 per adult and £2.00 for Senior Citizens and Children Under 14.

School Closed Early - 29th November 2010

Unfortunately, due to the extreme weather conditions the children had to go home early today. The treacherous roads menat that many of the childrne were unable to make it in to school and several of the teaching staff were stranded trying to make the journey.  It was a difficult decision to make but with a heavy fall of snow at around 8.45am and the unpredictability of the weather it was felt that, in the interests of safety for both pupils and staff, the most apporopriate action was to close early.

Thank you to all of our parents for assisting us by  making arrangements at the last minute to collect their child.  Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

As the snowy weather is expected to continue updates will be posted on the website, on the parent hotline and it necessary on the radio/ceefax.
